How much does an ACTS dog cost?
The cost of breeding, raising, training, and matching an ACTS dog averages over $30,000. Clients who receive these dogs do not pay a fee for them. Instead, they collaborate with ACTS staff to raise funds that support the organization. Clients actively participate in the ACTS fundraising efforts and are considered an essential part of the fundraising team. Fundraising Minimum: $7,500*.
*Fundraising minimum is subject to change at any time, for any reason.
Do I have to fundraise?
While fundraising is encouraged, it is not mandatory. ACTS anticipates that each client will aim to contribute a minimum of $7,500 worth of donations, but the organization is flexible in allowing clients to do so in the manner that suits them best. Clients have the option to make out-of-pocket donations or engage in fundraising activities or a combination of both to reach their contribution goal.
Are donations refundable?
It's important to note that donations raised by clients through fundraising efforts are allocated to cover the operational costs associated with breeding, raising, training, and matching ACTS Service and Facility Dogs. These contributions are not earmarked for the direct benefit of a specific client or dog and are therefore not refundable.
Furthermore, donations made to ACTS are tax-deductible, but this can only be claimed if the donation explicitly benefits ACTS and does not directly benefit an individual client. This distinction ensures that the organization can continue its vital work in training and providing assistance dogs to those in need.
